This summer, I joined family visiting Creede, Colorado. Creede is a sleepy town sitting at an elevation of 8,799 feet with a population of 290 residents. My fiance’s family has been visiting during summer and winter seasons since 1976. The history and splendor of this place welcomed me. The land boasted sweeping views, wide creeks and rivers, rolling storms, dazzling bright stars, and cool clear mountain air. My family said they had never seen flowers covering the hills in Creede like this year. We saw flowers in every color; yellow, blue, white, orange, purple, pink, red and more. The seeds sat dormant under the ground waiting for perfect conditions of rain, cloud cover, and cold weather to explode their blooms. Luckily, we found a narrow access rode in the middle of a field so we could photograph the flowers without stepping through them. Each bundle was covered in a variety insects and the flower heads bobbed happily in the breeze. I’m thrilled to share these dormant flora macro film photos with you. I hope you enjoy!
